Netspace Profile/History
20th May 2000 - 20th March 2003
Netspace was founded in 1992 by Stuart Marburg as a dialup service for a bulletin board, known then as MacInsanity. As the Internet began to develop into the advanced communications medium it is today, Marburg teamed up with schoolmate Richard Preen to establish an ISP that would set itself apart from the rest of the IT field, and as a company Netspace has held true to the original vision of its founders.
From the outset, Netspace has revolved around core principles of high levels of service and value for money, and on being a market leader in the development of Internet services. Its focus has remained squarely on ensuring customers receive the best quality of service possible, and as such, Netspace is not only among the largest and longest running ISPʼs in the country, it is also one of the most highly decorated, having twice received the Editor's Choice from APC Magazine, as well as the Editor's Choice from PC Magazine and the Gold Award by PC Powerplay. Just as the company has received awards, so too has Marburg, recently named Young Australian Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young.
Netspace has never ceased its quest to be an innovative market leader, continuing to set the bar by offering some of the most competitive ADSL Broadband services available for home and business customers.
As a result of the high quality service, competitive plan features and pricing, the customer base has grown to more than 70, 000 subscribers, which continues to expand at an increasing rate. Netspace also provide Internet services to more than 60% of Victorian schools using the VicOne network. The company has also expanded into other areas of the telecommunications sector, with the launch in 2001 of Spacecentre—a data warehousing facility, and in 2002 of Encircle—a calling card service. The company now also offers specialised services for the Corporate and Government sectors.
Netspace provide Australia wide coverage for the Broadband ADSL market, backed up by multiple levels of redundancy in each state, including a direct satellite link to the United States to ensure customers receive maximum connection time and speed.
