Did somebody say, ruins?
Ancient fortress walls; narrow, rabbit-warren like streets, and as many churches as there are people, makes for an Toledo an interesting day trip…or two.
As impressive as the ancient walls, historic buildings and rambling streets are, this fortress city has fallen victim to rampant commercial tourism. Package tours roll in by the bus load throughout each day, and on every street there are crass souvenir shops (many loaded with various armour). The restaurants are hideously expensive, the food bland, and the service indifferent. Try Segovia instead.
